1. What is OpenMLS?

OpenMLS is an online listing community where anyone can post and advertise a listing for all to view worldwide. It is a "Level Playing Field".

2. What does MLS stand for?

MLS stands for Multiple Listing Service.

3. Is OpenMLS affiliated with the National Association of Realtors?

No it is not. OpenMLS is a "Level Playing Field" and is intended for everyone worldwide to list and browse properties.

4. If I post my listing to OpenMLS, will my listing be added to my local MLS?

No it will not. OpenMLS is an "Open" service to everyone where as your local MLS is a "Closed" MLS for only brokers and realtors who are members of your local board.

5. Do you provide a referral service?

I'm sorry we do not. Our sole purpose to to provide a "Level Playing Field" for all buyers and sellers worldwide.

6. Do you charge a commission on sold properties?

No we do not charge any commissions.

7. I am not a broker or realtor, can I still post my listing?

Yes, OpenMLS allows everyone to post their listing!

8. How do I post my listing?

From the homepage, click on "Post My Listing".

9. How much does it cost to post my listing?

Our current posting fees are:

  • 30 days for $9.95
  • 60 days for $16.95
  • 90 days for $24.95
10. Do you offer a refund?

Yes, we offer a 30-day full refund in the event you are dissatisfied with our service.

11. May I post a listing anonymously?

Unfortunately, you may not. If you are a Realtor or Broker and advertising for another, you must disclose that you are a licensed individual by including your Company Name and phone number.

12. How long does my listing stay on the site?

Your listing will be active on the site for either 30, 60, or 90 days. When it expires, your contact information will be removed. If you are interested in renewing it, please contact us.

13. Can I add an photo and/or virtual tour to my posting?

Yes, you can add up to 5 photos, floor plans, and virtual tours. You can either email them to me or input the web addresses when filling out the post form.

14. Do you resell my information to third parties?

Absolutely not. We believe in online trust and privacy.

15. How long does it take to see my listing on the site?

Please allow 24-48 hours for me to publish your new listing to the site.

16. How can I update my listing from the site?

Until I add this feature, please email me at corey@openmls.org.

17. How can I remove my listing from the site?

Until I automate this, please email me at corey@openmls.org.

18. How do I repost my listing?

Until I automate this feature, please email me at corey@openmls.org.

19. How often can I post?

You can post as often as you like as long as they're legitimate listings. I expect all posters to be honest and not abuse their posting power.

20. How do I contact you if I have a problem?

All of our contact information is located on our contact us page.

21. Why is the website openmls.org and not openmls.com?

My main reason is to convey a community feel rather than another dotcom or even worse dotbomb. I have taken the effort not to allow commercial advertising anywhere on our site.

22. I received spam from an email address with the domain openmls.com. What's up with this?

Unfortunately, a spammer is 'spoofing' or impersonating one of our domains, openmls.com. Please forward the spam to spoof@openmls.org and we will notify and forward it to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Thank you.
